Prostate Cancer Program
Tier 1 Health & Wellness offers state-of-the-art screening, diagnosis and interventional solutions for prostate care. Research shows that the traditional screening method for suspected prostate cancer — the transrectal ultrasound guided (TRUS) biopsy — misses 30-35 percent of prostate cancer, while MRI-guided biopsies miss only 3 percent of tumors that are Gleason score 7 or above. At Tier 1, we use diagnostic MRI as an option for detecting and pinpointing the location of prostate cancer for men with abnormal PSA levels.
Erectile Dysfunction
Did you know 30-40 million men in America have erectile dysfunction (ED)?
- In fact, the numbers show that:
- In men over 40, about 40% have erectile dysfunction!
- In men over 50, about 50% have erectile dysfunction!
Erectile dysfunction is defined as the inability to get and maintain an erection. Like any other disease, the underlying issue varies from person to person, but common causes include hormone deficiencies, lack of exercise, inadequate blood flow and poor diet. Erectile dysfunction is a condition that can lead to severe mental and physical health concerns as well as relationship problems.
At Tier 1, we can help you get it up again by developing and implementing a treatment plan specific to your unique biochemistry. Men, if you are not having at least three to five morning erections per week, regardless of your age, then it’s time to make an appointment!
Lack of erections is a telltale sign of other health issues such as diabetes, vascular disease and heart disease. Decreased libido and poor erection quality are actually some of the later findings that there is a health problem.
Testosterone
Testosterone is a hormone that is necessary in both men and women. It contributes to muscle mass, strength, endurance, decreased fat and increased exercise tolerance. Testosterone improves libido and sexual function. At optimal levels, testosterone increases bone density and reduces risk of osteoporosis. It has many positive effects on the cardiovascular system. Testosterone’s vasodilatory effects help lower blood pressure, improving or protecting against hypertension and heart disease. It lowers LDL (bad) cholesterol and increases HDL (good) cholesterol levels. Testosterone reduces insulin resistance, body fat and arthritis. It improves skin tone, collagen production and healing capacity. It decreases inflammation and has been shown to reduce degenerative joint disease. Testosterone is also a great mood enhancer and imparts a sense of well-being in men and women.
Hormone Replacement Therapy
Hormones control virtually all functions in the body. As we age, hormone levels begin to decline, accelerating both physical and mental degeneration. Hormone levels can also be inadequate in younger individuals due to genetic abnormalities or a lack of hormone receptor sensitivity related to endocrine disrupting chemicals in the environment. Most adults begin to experience significant loss of hormones after their early 20s. For women, childbirth, perimenopause and postmenopause alter hormone levels. Most men lose half of their prime hormones by their mid 40s.
The goal of hormone replacement therapy is to restore hormone levels to optimal ranges in order to reduce or eliminate symptoms and allow individuals to enjoy health and vitality throughout the life span. Preventive medicine focuses on disease prevention and improved quality of life. When hormone levels are treated and restored to optimal levels, we can experience an increased quality of health and vitality and an abundance of life.
Hormonal Deficiency Symptoms
While there is some variation in symptoms between the sexes, the following are common indicators of hormonal decline:
- Weight gain, especially in midsection
- Loss of lean muscle mass
- Degenerative disease (diabetes, cancer, heart disease, osteoporosis)
- Compromised immune system
- Thinning of the skin
- Depression and stress
- Cognitive decline/forgetfulness
- Insulin resistance
- Loss of sex drive
- Fatigue
- Sleep disorders
- Muscle aches and pains
- Bone loss
- Heat/cold intolerance
- Indecision
- Erectile dysfunction
- Thinning hair
- Irritability
- Hot flashes
- Heart Palpitations
- Vaginal dryness
Replenishment of hormones to optimal physiological levels has been shown by researchers around the world to alleviate these changes.
PRP for Hair Rejuvenation
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is an exciting, nonsurgical option for patients suffering from hair loss. The primary purpose of using PRP in hair restoration is to stimulate inactive hair follicles into an active growth phase using one’s own platelet cells to stimulate growth factors and stem cells.
PRP has been used successfully in various medical and surgical disciplines for many years as a therapeutic option to promote healing and/or regeneration. PRP is obtained from the body by collecting a blood sample, which is then specially prepared. The highly concentrated, platelet rich plasma is separated from the serum and injected into the scalp.
“PRP injection for androgenic alopecia is a simple, cost-effective and feasible treatment option for hair loss and can be regarded as a valuable adjuvant treatment modality for androgenic alopecia. Considering its excellent safety profile and relatively low cost, PRP hair treatment is a promising treatment option for patients with thinning hair.” J Cutan Aesthet Surg. 2014 Apr-Jun; 7(2): 107–110. doi: [10.4103/0974-2077.138352
PRP Joint Injections
If joint pain is making life difficult, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections can often make a difference in healing and restoring function. This treatment uses growth factors from the platelet cells in your own blood to stimulate your body’s ability to heal itself. For the procedure, which takes less than an hour, we draw blood and spin it in a centrifuge to extract the platelet-rich portion of the blood (which contains important growth factors, plasma and red blood cells Then, we inject this substance into the injured area. Talk to us today about whether PRP might be the solution you’re looking for to relieve and help heal inflamed or injured joints.
PRP Facelift
As we age, the collagen in our faces breaks down to create jowls and a droopy appearance, and our skin tone loses its youthful, rosy glow. Fortunately, this process can be reversed with the platelet-rich-plasma (PRP) facelift. This process isolates growth factors from stem cells found in the patient’s own blood, which are implanted into the face through a series of tiny injections. As the growth factors in the platelet-rich plasma go to work rebuilding collagen and forming new capillaries, the facial tissues begin to look more youthful, with increased firmness and improved blood flow. Other benefits of the PRP facelift include very fast recovery and natural-looking results.
